Field Marshal Sam Hormusji Framji Jamshedji Manekshaw belonged to the Parsi Community which had arrived in India from Persia. I started my military career while Sam Bahadur was the Indian Army’s top Commander. He led Indian Armed Forces to a great victory during Indo-Pak War of 1971. This military experience has helped me while I had participated in Security and Intelligence Operations conducted at Strait of Hormuz, Persian Gulf while serving in the Land Forces of Sultanate of Oman.

A large number of distinguished guests attended the ceremony and made it a grand success. I was a student of Giriraj Government Arts College, Nizamabad, Andhra Pradesh (now Telangana), India from 1961 to 1965. I joined the Pre-University Course (P.U.C.) and did the 3-Year Bachelor of Science Degree Course (B.Sc.) at Giriraj. My father, Shri. R. Suryanarayana Murthy was the Principal of Giriraj during those years.
