FAILED HOSTAGE RESCUE MISSION LAUNCHED FROM SULTANATE OF OMAN US hostage rescue mission, Operation Eagle Claw launched from Sultanate of Oman on April 24, 1980 to rescue American hostages held in Teheran is of special interest to me for I served in Royal Army of Oman’s Medical Services (Force Medical Services, Sultanate of Oman’s Land Forces) from 1984 to 1986.
