THE RISING SUN – THE LAND OF TIBET

The Rising Sun gives us a sense of hope and it also tells us about the Challenge.

THE RISING SUN – A HOPE AND A CHALLENGE  :

THE RISING SUN - THE LAND OF TIBET : THE SUNRISE AT POTALA PALACE, LHASA GIVES ME A SENSE OF HOPE AND AT THE SAME TIME IT REMINDS ME THAT THERE IS A GREAT CHALLENGE AHEAD OF THAT PROMISE OF HOPE.

When a celestial body like Sun appears above the horizon, we know that it would continue to ascend to a higher position and attain a greater height or a higher level and the rising Sun gives us a sense of hope and a hope for a better future. At the same time, we recognize that to advance to a higher position, man faces a challenge. It needs moral effort, physical struggle and we need to overcome the obstacles in our path and hence the picture of the rising Sun reminds us about the challenge that awaits us. Without effort and struggle, there can be no real upward movement in our lives, or in the life of people, or in the history of a Nation. The Land of Tibet lives on this hope and the people of Tibet need to struggle to realize this hope.

Tibetans still face arbitrary detention, torture, and discrimination on racial, ethnic, and religious grounds. Tibetans face exploitation, oppression, persecution, and other forms of deprivation. There is no respect and there is no tolerance of Tibetan religious practices and Tibetan cutural institutions. As we observe the World Human Rights Day, we need to be reminded about this challenge that we face in the Land of Tibet.
