A SPECIAL REQUEST TO U.S. CITIZENS AND ALL OTHER READERS: “DEFERRED ACTION” TO PERMIT YOUNG MIGRANTS TO REMAIN IN U.S.:

PRESIDENT OBAMA’S COMPASSIONATE INITIATIVE TO HELP YOUNG MIGRANTS TO REMAIN IN THE UNITED STATES – DREAM ACT COME TRUE.

Dear All,

This is a special request addressed to the members of Rebbapragadas Group residing in the United States. I would ask all other readers to read this post and take the action requested after giving it your careful consideration. All residents of the United States are entitled to certain Freedoms guaranteed by The Constitution of The United States of America which include the Right to Life and Freedom of Speech. At the same time, we recognize that we live and exist because of Divine Providence.

The Rebbapragadas Group describes people related to this group of people and others connected to Rebbapragadas. Spiritual Action refers to actions performed by man to provide some benefit to others without seeking personal benefit or the fruits of his/her own actions.
The Rebbapragadas Group describes people related to this group of Ladies and others connected to Rebbapragadas. Indian Tradition describes the five causes of any action performed by man:1. the doer, 2. the place of action, 3. the senses, 4. the endeavor, and 5. the Supreme Will or the Prime Cause. Man has no choice other than that of performing action in response to an environmental or external stimulus and the course of action and its outcome is determined by the Prime Cause.

U.S. President Obama has announced on June 15 that he would permit Young Migrants to remain in U.S. under a proposed initiative called ‘Deferred Action’. His bold and compassionate action to help migrants who had arrived in the United States as children to some extent makes the ‘DREAM ACT’ to come true in the lives of several students who have entirely grew up here. “They are Americans in their heart, in their minds, in every single way but one: on paper,” President Obama said in announcing the new policy in the White House Rose Garden on Friday, June 15, 2012. These are young people who, though no fault of their own, were brought to this country as children, lacked the intent to violate the law and be provided relief from administrative action like removal from the country. Secretary Napolitano has issued a policy directive to implement the decision made by the U.S. President. It has been proposed to set the age limit at 30 years. There are graduate students who have arrived in this country as children and have remained here all their lives and have crossed this age limit of 30 years.

I am seeking your kind attention to the problems faced by these graduate students who are not able to seek employment benefit and need immediate relief. They can significantly contribute to the society on the basis of their education and qualifications they earned while studying in the U.S. Colleges and Universities. Current students must be given age relaxation and be permitted to apply for ‘Deferred Action’ under the new initiative of President Obama.

Please call your U.S. Senator and U.S. House Representative or forward this letter to their e-mail address and request them to contact Mr. James McCament, Chief of the USCIS Office of Legislative Affairs to make the necessary amendment to the 30-Year Age limit proposed by Secretary Napolitano in her Policy Directive and Memorandum issued on June 15, 2012.

Many thanks for giving your kind attention to this problem.

“DEFERRED ACTION” AND SPIRITUAL ACTION :

The Indian tradition is derived from the principles shared by Vedanta. The Divine Song known as ‘The Bhagavad Gita’ in Chapter XVIII, Moksha Upadesa Yoga(The Perfection of Renunciation), verses 13 and 14 state that according to Vedanta, there are five causes in the accomplishment of any kind of action; 1. The place of action; 2. The doer; 3. The senses; 4. The endeavor; and ultimately 5. The Supersoul or The Supreme Will. The executive action taken by President Obama is in the nature of a Spiritual action. I describe Spiritualism and Spirituality as the potency that generates Peace, Harmony, and Tranquility in the living experience of an individual and this quality is reflected in the actions, interactions within the individual, and between individuals of a social group, or social community. I support the ‘DREAM ACT’ and it is Spiritual Action that promotes Peace, Harmony, and Tranquility in the lives of those young individuals who still exist as ‘MIGRANTS’ without Immigration Status.

    1. Dear Ravi,

I warmly appreciate your support for this campaign. I am using this issue to experimentally verify the fact of lack of unity in the Rebbapragadas Group. I am verifying my past experience in India and have used this opportunity to demonstrate practically that the Group has no theme that holds them together. I had to relinquish my Permanent Regular Commission in Indian Army as the Group did not attach any value to that Service. In Indian Tradition relationships are not based upon faith and belief. Relationships are based upon values and right action or Dharma. A relative who does not support your request for right action is not a relative and the Tradition demands to cease such social interactions which do not generate social harmony, peace, and tranquility.

    1. Again, thanks for that suggestion to cease social interactions. At a fundamental level, I explain man as a social being for man in reality is an association of trillions of individual, living cells. In addition, man is the natural host to trillions of microbial flora. Man always exists as a member of a biological community and interacts with the members of this social community. At the same time, I post my thoughts, and the reason is that of alerting others; when we see a venomous Snake, we stand still and shout loudly,”SNAKE, SNAKE”; and we know that the Snake cannot hear our words, and other humans could be alerted about the danger. People who may not hear my words, could be like the Snake which cannot hear.

    2. There is no escape from the past. People may not like their past, but there is no escape. Goddess Sita had clearly admitted that there is no choice other than that of experiencing the fruits of one’s own actions. The entire Indian tradition is based upon the view that the future is shaped by the past. You may have to attach a valid reason as to why past may have to be forgotten or ignored.

    3. WATER LILY: I am glad to note that you write about Lotus flower called ‘Pankaja’. As a botanist, you know that it belongs to the family Nymphaeaceae, freshwater perennials. The Indian Lotus(National Flower), belongs to the genus Nelumbo, a common species found is called Nelumbo nucifera. The Lotus is indeed a beautiful flower that we use in worship. But, how can we separate the flower from its plant? The flower has no existence of its own. If we show respect to the flower, we must respect the soil that supports the plant. I had worked for several years in the area of environmental protection and there is a major concern about conservation, and protection of wetlands, marshes, swamps, and bogs. They are a natural habitat and important to our ecological systems, particularly inland freshwater resources like lakes, and ponds. If I am the Lotus, I have to love the mud to which I rightfully belong.

    1. Thanks for the kind suggestion to cease some social interactions. I am trying the same. With God’s grace, I could live away from India since 1984 and my physical interactions have dropped substantially. You are aware that I have not visited India when my mother and father passed away. In Indian tradition, people have transmitted their thoughts from one generation to the next and those thoughts survived while the persons in whose minds those thoughts originated had no major social interactions with the social communities of their times.

SOCIAL INTERACTIONS : In Indian tradition, the basic role of social relations and interactions is reflected when people come together to celebrate a festival, or lifetime event like marriage to share the joy of that occasion. Similarly, people come together to share grief caused by death. Kindly tell me the type of social occasion when you have last seen me participating in a social interaction that may speak about my social relations.

I fully respect your right to your personal opinions. I really like to know the reaction to my views and it helps me to communicate better and express my views with clarity. I have shared in other blog posts about the establishment of man as the Self, and the Knowing-Self. The Self represents man as a physical, mental, and social being that displays behavior, performs actions, and entertains thoughts, feelings, and experiences moods. The Knowing-Self represents man as a moral, and spiritual being. The Knowing-Self is the seat of Self-Knowledge, Self-Awareness and hence man has the ability called self-control, self-restraint, and self-discipline. I have further described as to how the anatomical structure called “Reticular Formation” found in the Brain Stem performs these functions associated with arousal, and consciousness. I write describing the experiences of the Self and I remain in control as the Knowing-Self.

Ramana Maharshi is very interesting, but if you have known my views on Shankara, Ramanuja, and Madhva, you would easily understand the problem I have with the reasoning Ramana Maharshi uses in his conversations.
You may have noted that Adi Shankara, and Gautama Buddha at a relatively young age had rejected prevailing theories to establish their views. If I get a chance to discuss with them, I would still raise the same questions that I have asked in my blog posts.

    1. Thanks for that very kind response. I am sure that you are familiar with Indian traditions and Indian legends. For example, Ekalavya had to cut his right thumb and offer it to Guru Dronacharya even though he mastered the art of archery on his own efforts and the Guru was not physically present during the entire period of learning.

Man can never have the experience of the present instant. The instant called future gets transformed into past and man recognizes the present instant only after it has become a past event. If I ask you to tell me the present time, you would be able to provide the time of the past instant. Living in present times is only a metaphor and it is never real.

I have seen people using the term spirit or spiritual in a variety of different contexts, and I have to examine the meaning attached to those terms. It will not promote any understanding if a specific meaning is not attached to a term used in the conversation.

Matter, including living matter always exists in a state of constant motion. The living substance found inside a cell shows a motion called ‘cytoplasmic streaming’. The cessation of this motion is caused by death. The idea that cessation of thought or meditation can bring awareness is not based upon understanding the reality of matter, or the world. Even if a person is meditating, the reality of this world, and the universe is maintained by constant motion, and Indians use the term “JAGAT”, that which is constantly changing in its position. The position of the person while he could be meditating is constantly changing and hence holding the thought process is of no help or use to know the reality.

      With very best regards,

    1. FUNDAMENTAL DUALISM: You have described the problem of Dualism; 1. The Subject – The Object, 2. The Appearance – The Reality, 3. The Perceptual – The Categorical, 4. The Immanent – The Transcendent, 5. The Regulative – The Constitutive, and 6. The Conditioned – The Unconditioned. To know man’s status and position in nature, we have to apply each of the terms apart from understanding the fundamental dualism called, 1. The Living – The Non-Living, 2. The Animate – The Inanimate, and 3. The Sentient – The Insentient. While the Indian School of thought called ‘Advaita’ speaks about Unqualified Non-Dualism, the other Schools of thought have carefully explained the basis for Modified Non-Dualism, and Dualism. All of them have studied the Vedas, the Upanishads, the Bhagavad Gita, and various other texts and derive authority from those texts. They differ as to how they interpret those texts.

I speak about the unity between man and God. Man is conditioned, and has no independent existence. I use the term ‘Soul’ to describe man’s dependence. At the same time, man desires total freedom from the very nature of his dependent existence. I use the term ‘Spirit’ to describe man’s nature that wants to free itself from its bondage and shackles. This Spirit that liberates man, gives him release, and take him to his destination exists depending upon the Soul that supports human existence. If there are no men existing in the physical world, there would be no interest in the problem of human freedom. Man sees and recognizes the nature of his conditioned existence in the immanent realm, and the Spirit projects the existence into the transcendent realm to seek escape from dependence. If man is removed from the immanent realm, we have no concern about his existence or identity. The term “A HAM” describes “I” that is “Living” or “I” that is called “Being”. My question would be, Kindly tell me the location of this “I” and the location as to where it is Existing. If you are talking about the “I” that exists in the Earthly realm, I have to state that there is no Identity between man, and God. It does not mean that there is no unity between man, and God. Man is a created being, and is created to exist as a conditioned being, and the condition is that of ‘dependence’, the dependence upon Divine Providence called the Power/Force/Energy named Mercy, Grace, and Compassion known as “KRUPA” in Sanskrit language. Hence, man is not God but is dependent upon Lord’s Mercy, Grace, and Compassion. If man is existing in the world, there is unity between man and God to establish the partnership, association, relationship, or bonding between these two separate entities; 1. the energy-dependent man, and 2. the energy-providing God.

Man exists on the surface of planet Earth. If Earth is moving, and spinning, man has no choice other than that of partaking in that motion and movement. In the Spiritual realm, where there is life, there will be motion. Motion is a sure sign that life is present. For that reason, Spirit and Soul are described as the vital, animating principle found in all living creatures. Until, the Spirit, or Soul departs, man lives not because of keeping his mind silent, and still; he lives because of partaking in the motion.

    1. Identity and Individuality: You have described the problem of man’s changing Identity and the unchanging Individuality. Man exists in the physical world as an Individual with Individuality without any choice of his own. Man cannot alter the nature of his Individuality. Man does not directly rule or govern even one single cell in his human body which comprises of trillions of cells. Each living cell is independent, autonomous entity that voluntarily serves the man to keep his identity and individuality. By nature, man leads a dependent, conditioned existence. Nothing is accomplished by the focus on “I.” When man knows that the “I” has no independent existence of its own, and is totally dependent, it learns the attitude called humility, and the presence of the attitude called humility is displayed in a behavior called obedience, and devotion.

    1. ESSENCE AND EXISTENCE: You have described the need to know about human Essence(What you are), without describing the basis for human Existence. It must be noted that Existence precedes Essence. Existence is the precondition of all kinds of Essence. Man may try to know his Essence and may seek to establish his Identity by describing his Essence in terms of his ideas, thoughts, writing, feelings, and moods. The problem is not that of finding the diamond. The issue is not that of describing essence or identity. The concern must be that of knowing the basis for existence. The term called “I” has no Identity, has no Essence until it is established as “I AM.” We have to search the basis for existence that can transform “I” into the physical reality called “I AM.”

Students of Biology do not attach any great value to Diamond which is a form of elemental Carbon. Students of Biology attach great significance to what are known as organic carbon compounds, the basis for organic chemistry. Man exists by using carbon molecules, and the primary source of this carbon is products synthesized by plants and the primary source of carbon for plants is carbon dioxide found in air. I do not search for diamonds as they are not relevant to my human existence. I am concerned about the problems caused by diamond mining in Africa. It represents man’s greed and avarice. It represents man’s lust for material wealth and power. To find diamonds in Congo, thousands of human lives are lost in warfare and diamonds are the cause of human misery there. Kindly tell me one good reason as to why I should search for a diamond. What I need is, the minerals that flow from Mother Earth into living beings through nutrient cycles such as the Phosphorus Cycle.

With the same or identical genomes(Clones), or different genomes, man has no choice other than that of existing as an Individual, a original, unique, distinctive, and one of its own kind of object. There could be unity between father, and son, and there can never be Identity between father and son.

  10. The concern must be that of knowing the basis for existence. The term called “I” has no Identity, has no Essence until it is established as “I AM.”

    Correct..agree

We have to search the basis for existence that can transform “I” into the physical reality called “I AM.”

    1. As mentioned above, the concern is not about Identity, and the concern is about Unity that makes existence possible. Man’s Identity and Individuality are not the same. The Identity changes progressing through the various stages of existence like infancy, childhood, boyhood, manhood, and old age.Whereas the Individuality remains unchanged during the entire time of existence.

    1. Identity vs Unity:

The correct term to use is that of “Unity.” There is ‘unity’ between body, mind. soul, world, and God to establish human existence. To state that soul, and God have perfect Identity is not correct. The fundamental basis for the existence of a living cell is that of its separation from its external environment, the world in which it exists, and from God who supports that existence. It describes the dependent nature of human existence as man is separated from the source of the support for his existence. The soul/spirit supports the existence of trillions of independent, living cells by fostering functional unity. Soul/spirit has the power known as self-restraint, self-control, and self-discipline. While soul/spirit bring unity between mind, and body, it can still control the intellect, the mind, and its four kinds of activities associated with its four parts; 1. ManaH( the seat of thoughts), 2. Buddhi( the seat of intellect and knowledge ), 3. Chitta ( the seat of feelings, and emotions ), and 4. AHamkara ( the seat of Ego, or Self-Pride ). Lord Krishna has categorically claimed that He is the Origin, the Middle, and the End of all that exists and at the same time He is detached from all that exists as there is no Identity between the Lord and the things He created.
